Dear Singapore Homeschooling families,

hello!

I, Suwei, have done up a very simple survey, under some guidance and feedback from other (homeschooling) parents, to get some answers regarding the PSLE results amongst Singaporean homeschoolers. It is by no means professional but I hope that it can be useful to get some meaningful answers.

This survey is meant to give us all more information about how and why we are faring with these statistics (given to us through the media: 54% meeting the benchmark). But more importantly, to help parents of future batches make more informed decisions how to help their children get past the PSLE.

1) Help needed with survey:

This survey is strictly for parents of compulsory ed. exempted homeschoolers who have taken the PSLE in both/ either the years of 2008 and 2009.
Please do take some time to thoughtfully answer. Also note that this survey is completely anonymous.

To answer the survey please follow this link:

The results of the findings will be shared at a homeschooler's sharing session on 30th Jan. (see below) If you would like to have a copy of the results, you may email me, Suwei, at apieceofcake.sg@gmail.com

2) Compulsory Education Exempted Singapore Homeschoolers Sharing Session:

PSLE helps/ advice for future batches of Homeschoolers.

This is a parent initiated sharing session that is opened to all CE exempted Singapore Homeschoolers. (Especially those whose children are very close to taking the PSLE) It is intended to be a practical help session for the parents and those who will be taking the PSLE so that they can be better informed of what are the PSLE requirements.
Please email me (apieceofcake.sg@gmail.com) if you intend to come and how many seats you will be needing. This is to facilitate booking of an auditorium.

Date: Saturday, 30th Jan 2010
Time: 2- 5 pm
Venue: *To be confirmed
Price: $8 (also to be confirmed, depending on venue. This is purely to help cover costs of booking the venue and possibly refreshments.)

To be discussed:

-"PSLE preparations and results among CE exempted Singaporean Homeschoolers" survey findings
- Sharing by panelists who are parents of homeschoolers who have taken the PSLE.
- 2010 PSLE syllabus and changes to take note.
- Question and answer session

*venue will be informed as soon as we get a better picture of the no. of pple attending. Please email me to signal your intention to come for the session.

Please help to forward this to as many CE exempt homeschoolers as you know!!!

Thank you!!!

Yours sincerely,
Suwei

We have confirmed a venue for the sharing session. It will be at the theatrette at Toa Payoh Central Community Club.
http://www.streetdirectory.com/travel/buses/sbs/3/
Time is 2-5 pm.

- The schedule for the afternoon is as follows:

2 PSLE homeschoolers survey findings
2:20 Sharing by a homeschooling parent whose children sat for PSLE
3 *English
3: 30 *Maths

*Subject sharing will be regarding exam/ syllabus requirements and what examiners are looking for. The speakers are all MOE trained and very versed in helping students with PSLE.

This session is highly recommended for those homeschoolers who are P4- P6, parents and children alike. If you would like reserve a seat or to revise the number coming, please email me so that I can reserve a seat for you.

Thank you and see you real soon! :)
